Johnny Walker vs. Ryan Spann was originally booked for UFC 253, but the matchup will now be featured on a Fight Night show.
Walker vs. Spann was added to the pay-per-view card back when the event was expected to take place on Sept. 19, but the company ultimately moved it to the following Saturday. The light heavyweight showdown will not be moved to the new date, however, going down on Sept. 19 in Las Vegas.
Walker announced the news in an interview to Canal Encarada, and sources confirmed the switch to MMA Fighting.
Walker (17-5) will attempt to get back on track following defeats to Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov after a meteoric 3-0 rise in the octagon. Spann (18-5), on the other hand, has won four in a row since joining the UFC in 2018.
With the UFC changing plans for its September events, several other bouts were moved from one card to another. Mirsad Bektic vs. Eduardo Garagorri, Randy Costa vs. Journey Newson, Sarah Alpar vs. Jessica-Rose Clark were all booked for Sept. 26, but will now happen a week earlier.
The yet-to-be-announced Fight Night is expected to be headlined by Tyron Woodley vs. Colby Covington on Sept. 19, while middleweight champion Israel Adesanya puts his title on the line versus undefeated Paulo Costa on Sept. 26.
